NinaPic.jpeg.bmpPowerful body-mind changes take place when you decrease chronic pain, relieve stress and become more aware of your body and what it wants to tell you.

A Basic Knead Massage and Bodywork is located within the Barrett Family Wellness Center in Westborough, MA www.barrettfamilywellness.com.  It is here where Nina’s personal style blossoms as she tailors each session to your needs providing a therapeutic bodywork experience that improves the awareness between your mind and body.

Your session will likely incorporate a variety of techniques to help you get relief.  Such as an assessment of your postural habits and holding patterns, joint range of motion, energy work, trigger point therapy, fascial therapy, sports massage and/or passive body techniques.  Nina's focus is to provide an outcome-based treatment session.   If your child is receiving therapy, you might be asked to bring a favorite game or toys to help occupy your child while s/he receives their treatment.

Nina is a licensed massage therapist and certified Reiki I & II practitioner. She is an AMTA Member. Nina is a graduate of The Muscular Therapy Institute in Cambridge, MA (now owned and operated in Watertown, MA under Cortiva).  She comes from a technical background and holds BS degrees in Physics and Chemical Engineering.   She felt uninspired and burned out after several years in engineering and left the field to pursue what she thought would be a much desired career in the culinary arts, specifically opening a bakery.   She worked for a time as a caterer and baker's assistant while investigating a long standing interest in bodywork. Nina has always been fascinated by the mind-body connection and experienced breakthroughs and interesting insights into her own body issues after receiving focused bodywork.  As a result, she decided she too wanted to connect and help various individuals with their own body related issues.

She hopes her varied background helps her empathize with your daily routine.  Each time you see her for a treatment, she tries to create each session to speak to your body in real time - what you bring to the table, literally, that day in the hopes of relieving whatever pain or tension you may be dealing with.

ABOUT THE OIL USED:  Nina uses only organic oils for her massages and tries to find only organic essential oils for any aromatherapy aspects.  She has had greater difficulty locating all organic creams and lotions, which she prefers to use on the limbs for the deep tissue glide aspect.  All oils, creams and lotion put onto our skin are absorbed into our body.   When insecticides, herbicides and fungicides are used in farming to grow vegetable, seed or nut oil crops, residues of those chemicals carry over into the extracted oil.  Nina uses a blend of organic sunflower, apricot and jojoba oils.
